    Teacher Proficiency:

    We welcome first time and veteran teachers. If you are proficient in your craft and have a passion for teaching others your skill, we are happy to have you!

    Ages:

    Teachers should be 16 and older.

    Terms:

    Fall (Sept-Nov) 1st week in July deadline to submit.

    Winter (Dec-Feb) 1st week in October deadline to submit.

    Spring (Mar-May) 1st week in January deadline to submit.

    Summer (June-Aug) 1st week in April deadline to submit.

    Fall, Winter and Spring we encourage 4-6 week class series. 

    During Summer Term, 1-2 evening sessions and weekend workshops are preferred.  Taking into account regional events, such as fair, that could compete with attendance.

    Pricing:

    If this is your first class, please reach out to find out about how we price classes. 

    Mediums:

    We have a full leatherworking and fiber arts classroom, drawing and painting classroom, ceramics classroom, and a classroom for literature, and arts like knitting, and crafting. We can accommodate other mediums too. Just ask!

    Workshop Description:

    Unlock the secrets to painting life-like fur, feathers, and hair in this immersive one-day workshop designed for both wildlife and pet artists. Whether you're a beginner looking to develop new skills or an experienced painter aiming to refine your technique, this class will provide you with the essential tools and insights to elevate your animal paintings to the next level.

    Key Learning Objectives:

    1. Color Mixing**: Learn the fundamentals of mixing vibrant and realistic colors tailored to different animal coats.

    2. Texture Creation: Discover techniques for creating the illusion of texture, making fur feel soft, feathers appear fluffy, and hair look silky smooth.

    3. Edge Quality: Learn the art of edge control to convey depth and dimension.

    What You'll Need to Bring:

    - Your own set of oil paints

    - Brushes of various sizes and shapes

    - Canvas or painting surface of your choice

    - Palette and palette knives

    - Rags or paper towels

    Workshop Format:

    Introduction & Demonstration: Begin the day with a live demonstration by our instructor, showcasing the techniques and approaches that will be covered.

    Hands-On Practice: Engage in guided practice sessions where you will apply what you've learned, with the instructor providing personalized feedback and assistance.

    Q&A and Troubleshooting: Participate in an interactive Q&A session to address any challenges and gain further insights into perfecting your technique.

    Ages 16 and up



    Kim Randleas is a lifelong resident of Grant County. She loves drawing, painting, and creating stained glass works. Her favorite mediums are charcoal, watercolor, and oil paint. She loves trying new, art forms and looks forward to learning alongside other people at the Art Center.

    PSCA cancellation policy: Teacher reserves the right to cancel if class size minimum is not reached. You will receive a full refund in this case or if the instructor needs to cancel for other reasons. 

    If you need to cancel: Cancellations within a week of class start date will receive a 50% refund. After that a refund will not be issued. Our teachers and staff put a lot of work in to be ready for your class. If you need to cancel, please communicate with us as soon as possible.
