January 5- March 9
Room 07
In this 10 week private 30 Minute Bass lesson course, we will focus on building strong fundamentals while guiding students through a clear progression of skills. Students will learn basic rhythms, fingerings, note names, time signatures, and simple bass riffs, working toward playing full songs. Instruction is structured around a step-by-step approach that breaks bass development into five main stages, allowing students to progress at a pace that matches their experience and goals.
Beginning students will focus on the first three stages, learning core techniques and foundational musicianship skills. More advanced students will move beyond these stages to deepen their understanding of bass performance and musical expression.
The five stages of development include:
-
Beginning Bassist
-
The Student
-
Bassist in Training
-
Bass Player
-
Intermediate Bass Player
Lessons are tailored to each student’s level, helping beginners build confidence while supporting advancing players as they continue to grow as musicians.
About your Instructor
Cameron Wright I am a native-born Oregonian and a bassist. I play upright, electric and acoustic bass and I enjoy performing a wide range of styles including bluegrass, chamber music, symphonic and orchestral works, with a little metal mixed in. My love for music started at a young age with the trumpet and French horn. As a teenager, I discovered the bass, which set me on a different musical path. In 2010, I enrolled at Central Oregon Community College, where I studied music for two years under Michael Gesme, Director of the Music Program. During that time, I focused on musicianship, music theory, and music history, while studying bass, cello, piano, and voice. After completing my studies at COCC, I transferred to Eastern Oregon University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Music under Leandro Espinosa, Director of Music. While at EOU, I continued expanding my musical skills, adding drums, djembe, and piano, with an emphasis on bass studies. I also gained orchestral performance experience with the Grande Ronde Symphony. I currently reside in Prairie City, Oregon, and teach private music lessons. |
