"The Art & Styles of Acting"
Discover the art of acting in this engaging, supportive class for performers of all experience levels. Through weekly scene and monologue study, students will explore character development, stage presence, audition techniques, sight reading, relaxation exercises, and the unique approaches used in stage, film, and commercial acting.
Each class encourages collaboration, constructive feedback, and creative growth while exploring what makes every actor's style unique. Students will also discuss the business of acting and learn techniques that help performers communicate authentically and confidently.
No scene or monologue is required for the first class. Students will receive guidance in selecting material as the course progresses.

Photo & Media Release:
By registering for classes or programs at Painted Sky Center for the Arts, participants and/or parents/guardians grant permission for photographs, video, or other media of participants and artwork to be used for promotional purposes including social media, website content, newsletters, marketing materials, grant reporting, and community outreach.
No compensation will be provided for such use. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, written notice must be provided prior to participation.
Liability Waver & Safety Notice:
Participation in classes and programs at Painted Sky Center for the Arts may include art activities, outdoor activities, excursions, transportation, and the use of tools and materials that carry inherent risks.
By registering, participants and/or parents/guardians acknowledge and accept these risks and agree to follow all safety instructions and program policies. Adult supervision is required for youth participants as specified by program guidelines.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans change! Here's how cancellations are handled at Painted Sky:

Teacher Cancellations: If a teacher needs to cancel a class at any time, we will issue a full refund to all registered students.

Student Cancellations: Students may cancel up to one week prior to the class and receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than a week in advance are non-refundable.
Our instructors put a great deal of time and care into preparing materials and lessons, so we appreciate your understanding.

About your InstructorJim Bay has been passionate about acting since performing in his first play at the age of 11. He studied at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York before continuing his training and performing in theater productions throughout San Francisco and Los Angeles. As a member of SAG-AFTRA, Jim has appeared in films, television commercials, and other on-camera productions, and has also taught acting in San Francisco.
Jim believes that every actor develops their own unique process and style. His classes focus on building confidence, authenticity, and strong performance skills in a supportive environment where students are encouraged to explore, collaborate, and grow. Outside the classroom, he enjoys studying exceptional films and performances, continually exploring the craft and artistry of acting. |
