Beginner's Guide to Self-publishing with Theresa Stinnett

Many people have a story they want to tell---whether it's biographical, informative, or fictional. Self-publishing has given all of us the opportunity to make that dream a reality without the need to quarry agents, publishing houses, and relinquish any rights to our work. Having self-published 12 books of her own, Theresa Stinnett is excited to share what she knows in a beginner's guide to self-publishing. This class will help authors understand the process of self-publishing and what to expect as they prepare their finished manuscript for publication. Theresa will discuss the two leading self-publishing companies for print on demand services, some common self-publishing scams to be aware of, royalties, expenses, and the essential tools an author needs in order to self-publish a book. She welcomes discussion and questions.

Adults 18 and older.

About your teacher

Theresa Stinnett was born and raised in Grant County. She has always loved a good story. As a child, she began writing and has never stopped brainstorming one book after another. Having completed several short stories and a couple of children's books during her teens, publishing her stories became her dream. But she had a long road to get there. After quarrying agents for her early books in hopes of being picked up by a traditional publishing house, she discovered the freedom and opportunities of self publishing. She began pioneering print on demand services through CreateSpace (now KDP) while the company's interface was still young and there wasn't too much information out there to help her. Since 2013, she has self-published more than 12 books. She now hopes to share what she knows, through her experiences, with other writers who want to see their wonderful stories in print.
