Sign with Zoey

This isn’t a Certified Sign Language course, but it’s perfect for anyone looking to build basic signing skills and promote better communication. Whether you're brand new to sign language or just want to refresh what you know, this workshop welcomes you!

What makes this class extra special? It’s led by a Deaf member of our local community, offering a unique opportunity to learn directly from someone with lived experience. 

Session 1: Introduction to ASL communication, Deaf/non-speaking communication strategies, ABCs, and number systems (1–30, 99–110, 199–205, 999–1010)

Session 2: Color vocabulary and everyday conversational signs (e.g., greetings and basic questions such as “how are you”) with guided partner practice

Session 3: Food and drink vocabulary, along with essential emergency-related signs and communication strategies

Zoey loves questions! So don't be afraid to ask! Join us and gain practical signing skills in a relaxed, supportive environment!

As part of Painted Sky’s commitment to accessibility and community connection, individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing, as well as immediate family members of Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals, are invited to attend Zoey’s class at no cost.

Minors permitted with registered adult.

By registering for this class I understand that respectful behavior is expected from all participants. Painted Sky Center for the Arts reserves the right to dismiss participants whose behavior is unsafe, disruptive, inappropriate, or harmful to others.

Photo & Media Release:

By registering for classes or programs at Painted Sky Center for the Arts, participants and/or parents/guardians grant permission for photographs, video, or other media of participants and artwork to be used for promotional purposes including social media, website content, newsletters, marketing materials, grant reporting, and community outreach.

No compensation will be provided for such use. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, written notice must be provided prior to participation.

Liability Waver & Safety Notice:

Participation in classes and programs at Painted Sky Center for the Arts may include art activities, outdoor activities, excursions, transportation, and the use of tools and materials that carry inherent risks.

By registering, participants and/or parents/guardians acknowledge and accept these risks and agree to follow all safety instructions and program policies. Adult supervision is required for youth participants as specified by program guidelines.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans change! Here's how cancellations are handled at Painted Sky:

• Teacher Cancellations: If a teacher needs to cancel a class at any time, we will issue a full refund to all registered students.

• Student Cancellations: Students may cancel up to one week prior to the class and receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than a week in advance are non-refundable.
  Our instructors put a great deal of time and care into preparing materials and lessons, so we appreciate your understanding.
