Highland Cow Leather Tooling Workshop
Come tool and paint a Clair Kehrberg original pattern with a highland cow scene at the art center. This is an excellent opportunity to study with Clair in person and learn her style of leather craft. The first day will be spent tooling and practicing different geometric border designs. The second day will be spent painting the highland cow scene as well as the border. You should be able to go home with a completed project that you can use on something you build! Leather will be provided, bring your stamping and carving tools.
*The image shown is a collage put together of the elements you will be learning, Clair is working on the final design! The project will be approximately 8 × 10

Clair Kehrberg
About your teacher
Clair Kehrberg grew up on a cattle ranch in a small rural town in Eastern Oregon. From a young age she loved horses and art. As she approached high school graduation she became interested in leatherwork because it seemed to combine her two great loves, horses and art. And so her journey began! Her senior year of high school she studied with local saddle maker and friend, Tom Berry. She then went on to graduate from Spokane Falls Community College with a degree in saddle making. After college Clair apprenticed with Randy Severe and received a TCAA scholarship to study with Dale Harwood. In the autumn of 2004 Clair opened her own shop where she made everything from western saddles to high end leather handbags and a whole lot of things in between! Over the years Clair’s work has been featured in every major Western magazine and has received numerous awards, including a handbag that was a finalist in the International Handbag Design Awards in New York City. Today Clair enjoys mom life, has her own cattle ranch and is still
making fine leather goods.
